Ode to Twin Peaks

Hello there.

I've decided a week ago to show to my lovely girlfriend the incredible tv serie that Twin Peaks is. If you haven't seen this show yet and you're a Buffy, X-Files, etc. fanatic; you shall  finish to read this article (with no spoiler of course), go on Netflix and watch it. Most people don't seem to be aware of the huge influence that this cult serie was (and still is). The only bad thing about Twin Peaks is that it was cancelled at the end of it's second season (but was followed up with a movie in '92 for some sort of closure). Nevertheless, the fans think that the serie deserves a better ending and, after 25 years of waiting, David Lynch might be revisiting the logging town as he shoots new footage for the cancelled cult series after many years of having expressed interest in producing more Twin Peaks. (link here, but spoiler alert) So we'll probably see the rest of his vision about this gloomy town (YEAH!!!!)

Oh and here's another reason to watch the show: Young Kyle MacLachlan. Because this actor had that huge potential and you can see it over and over again in Twin Peaks (it will also helps you forget the fact that he played in Desperate Housewives and was also 'The Captain' in How I met your mother; just concentrate on the mysterious, dreamy, authoritarian, epicurean, romantic, naive and protective man that Agent Dale Cooper is.)
Sooooo... where were we? Oh yes! Twin Peaks... Twin Peaks is morbid, weird, sometimes funny, sometimes sad and filled with a lot of clichĂ© of the 90s. Oh! And also with incredible sweaters (you'll see). The show is about mystery and its nature. Don't expect to be spoon-fed with answers; you definitely won't. With Twin Peaks, you'll also keep falling in love with a lot of the characters of the show (even the ones you didn't like at first)... AND THEIR OUTFITS! It's inevitable.  As for me, even though I'm complety and utterly in LOVE with FBI Agent Dale Cooper (Kyle MacLachlan) and his cute obsession on coffee and pies... lesbi-honest: Audrey Horne (Sherilyn Fenn) is to-die-for. Despite her arrogance, Miss Horne is charming, intelligent and she's a go-ahead type of girl, who's not afraid of anything. I'm beyond the phase of being in love with her, I WANT TO BE HER. Since two weeks, I'm trying to emulate Audrey Horne’s enviable style by buying a lot of vintage clothes on Etsy. I want to be the femme fatale in vintage-inspired look that Audrey is with my blouses, sweaters, high-waisted skirts and black and white oxford shoes with a little touch of red lipstick.
But, in the gloomy town of Twin Peaks, there's also a bunch of other characters. From the high-voiced and immature blonde receptionist, Lucy Moran, to the richest and ruthless man of Twin Peaks, Benjamin Horne, you will see a lot of different people and a lot of different (and AWESOME) style of the 90s. Because, let's face it, those years were pretty awesome .The closer you look into the detail of clothing of this show, the more you can appreciate how beautiful it is. Here's some of my favorite looks from Twin Peaks:
And I'm also in love with Donna's and Maddy's sweaters. Maddy's big dorky glasses are pretty cool too.
Finally, if you're a fan of mystery, vintage fashion, horror and sci-fi: Twin Peaks is perfect for you!  It's designed as a labyrinth where you'll never get out. It's really just one of those shows you could watch over and over and not even be mad about it. And I promise you that you'll crave pies, donuts and coffee after each episodes and you'll be haunted by the music of Angelo Badalamenti.

*For those who seek adventure, here's a Twin Peaks roadtrip just for you, from Big Ed's gas station to the double R diner where you can  try the “Twin Peaks cherry pie” and their “damn fine cup o’coffee.”
